Lake Pontchartrain

The Brackish Lake Pontchartrain and it's surrounding watershed is a major part of the Louisiana Wetland Ecosystem. This aquatic network connects the Central Louisiana Bayous, Lake Maurepas, Tchfunka, Bogafalaya & other Northshore fresh-water Rivers to Lake Katherine, the Rigoletes, Honey Island, the Chandelier Islands and the Gulf of Mexico.

There is good shoreline fishing: see Scott {Rachelle} he is an expert shoreline fisherman, on both the northshore, southshore and West Coast. As well, there are several fishing piers, boat launches and artificial reefs that have proven to be very sucessful. Pontchartrain Beach (where Elysian Fields meets the Lake by UNO) is very cool as well as the closest Beach to New Orleans. www.saveourlake.org
